Previous review is a copy from Quicken review Jan 28, 2009

"Delicate Warrior"
Just wanted to say that I read this EXACT same review (the one rated with 1 star and listing simplicity) under Quicken Home and Business Pro 2009. It is VERBATIM the same review under a different name.
I've been using the trial version of MS Office Accounting 2008 and so far it's been smooth sailing. It's a trial version but... no difficulties here. Take that for what you will.
I'd take that last review with a MAJOR grain of salt.
Nothing but problems Aug 29, 2010
By alimarie86 I used Quicken for years but when I got a new computer my old version was not compatible with Windows Vista. After shopping around I decided to try the MS Office Accounting. It is hard to find your way around and it isn't easy to understand how to set up your accounts. It is not error friendly either...I must have a gazillion voids because you cannot go back and change the date on a deposit and I ended up with two. It started to give me error messages and shutting down this week when I wanted to print some reconciliation reports...Ugh! After two years I have had nothing but frustration with it and my needs are basic so I am switching back.

Don't do it! Apr 17, 2008
By Alyssa Karsten I have simple accounting needs for my business. Simple. 1. Something to make filling out my tax form schedule "C" easier. 2. A quick review to see where I am spending money that is easy to track 3. User-friendly, especially when it comes to connecting with on-line banking.
Did I mentioned -- simple? I am not simple-minded. Honest. What I am is efficient.
While I understand there is a learning curve to anything new, some things just lend themselves to easier learning and efficiency (!) than others.
I used Quickbooks99 Pro edition for years until after a couple of computer crashes, the software was no longer supported by the company. I barely tapped into the capabilities of the software I had. I just didn't need it. After the crash, I started to use an older version of Quicken that my husband had on CD, but found that it wasn't integrating with on-line banking because it was too old.
While there can always be a bit of a challenge in learning a new program, I always felt I was making progress and well on my way to making my life easier by the use a computer and the programs that can be utilized. On-line banking is the cat's meow.
I'm used to a menu that has a check register. I can enter checks and deposits all at the same time. Same menu. Since I can't download what I had (??? I thought I could convert as well as I thought my old Quickbook files were *Somewhere* on the computer) I have 16 months of entries to do.
Also, I couldn't figure out how to make an entry to categories ATM/On-line charges vs. checks/ or cash. Inquirying minds want to know.
Again, I wish to reiterate that I understand that there is a learning curve. And even with the most efficient of programs there are usually expletives involved from time to time. AND there is also something that stirs in one's gut when you sense that 'this isn't working the way I want it to and it's never going to'. Too much back and forth -- and I don't get the feeling it gets faster the further along you go. And slooooow between menus.
I've read mixed reviews regarding Quicken 2008, but you know, I'm willing to try it. I'm affirming that Amazon is a stand up company and will refund my money.
A few hours with Microsoft left me longing for Quicken.
