The text treats international financial management as a natural and logical extension of the principles learned in the foundations course in financial management. Thus, it builds on and extends the valuation framework provided by domestic corporate finance to account for dimensions unique to international finance.
Shapiro 6e is primarily intended for an undergraduate audience; but it is suitable for use in masters-level courses when there is not time to cover the full range of topics. This text assumes no prior knowledge of international finance. | | | |

Great book Sep 22, 2009

Although this book is used in grad courses, an undergrad student who wants to see how financial markets work with an economic analysis, this will be the right option.

Can be confusing, major focus on economics Jun 11, 1999 This textbook may not be a good choice for undergraduate students or for someone who does not have an intermediate or higher knowledge of finance. Wording in the chapters and in the end of chapter problems can be confusing. Statements are made and then not backed up with supporting information. The book spends a large amount of time on a macroeconomic view.

By Mr. Lee This book takes a macroeconomic view of international financial management as other reviews have stated. If you know little or nothing about macro, this book is not for you. Some of the questions at the end of the chapters can be little challenging as there is not enough supporting information contained within the book itself to answer them. Also, there are quite a few historical perspectives in the book along with excessive text that does not add much. I feel that illustrative examples is something that this book is sorely missing. If written in this way, I believe that the book would be an easier read.

Wordy and confusing May 02, 2006
By P. Zhou

The author uses a lot of wordy language to make simple concepts complicated. Also I agree with another review: there is a lot of macroeconomics. I think Dr. Shapiro needs to understand how his readers learn, not how he can enjoy his writing.
